I love streaming though, as long as the internet works (which is working fine 99.7% of the time) and I've even noticed I don't care as much about how much space my laptop/desktop can have anymore (my new laptop only has 256GB) because I stream all my files now. If you need any mission critical stuff just right click on them and select available offline.Īlthough I do know people I work with that want ALL of their 2TB files available on their work laptop/desktop and just can't force themselves to stream because local is all they've ever known, and just need that peace of mind. If your internet is fast enough it's probably better for your local PC in regards to indexing and file validation. You might also want to try sorting your trash by clicking the "Trashed date" column until the most recently trashed items are at the top.Īs for whether mirroring or streaming is better, I've always only used streaming.
Maybe the files haven't uploaded all the way yet before you delete them? Your sure none of the files are in your Google drive trash? If you know the file names that you deleted go to the web portal, search for them and click the advanced search icon (the little settings slider icon in the search bar) and check "in trash" this will add a "is:trashed" filter to the search.
Even if you put a file into drive and then delete it before it finishes uploading sometimes it will upload it anyway and then trash it. I've used File Stream and now Drive for Desktop since it launched, like four or five years ago, and never had this issue.
